Privacy Policy
Pursuing Other Interests ("POI", "the app")

POI finds job openings that fit you, explains why, and helps you apply with a tailored resume and cover letter. To do that it needs some personal information. This policy says what, why, where it goes, and how to delete it.
The short version: your information is used only to run the app for you. There are no ads, no tracking, no analytics tools, and nothing is sold or shared for marketing. To find and assess roles, and to write resumes and letters, the app sends your information to Anthropic's Claude AI using your own Anthropic API key, and only after you agree. You can delete everything from the app at any time.
Who runs the app
POI is run by James Koutsoukis ("we"). Contact: support@pursuingotherinterests.com.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address, and your sign-in method (Apple, Google, or email and password with an authenticator app).
- Your resume: the PDF you choose and the text read from it, including the name, contact details, work history, education and skills it contains.
- Your search preferences: the roles and title words you want, pay floors, where you live (a city you type, not your device's location), places you'd move to, work modes, companies to watch or avoid, and similar settings.
- What you tell the app about roles: ratings, tags and notes, which roles you applied to, and roles you bring back from the Filtered list.
- Optional writing sample: text you add so cover letters sound like you.
- What the app produces for you: job listings it found and its assessment of them, tailored resumes and cover letters, and notes on what it learned from your ratings.
- Your Anthropic API key: stored encrypted. The app can use it on your behalf but can't show it back to anyone, including you.
- Spending records: the cost of each AI call made with your key, so the app can keep to the caps you set.
- Notification token: if you allow notifications, a token from Apple that lets us send them to your phone.
- Feedback you send: your message and, if you keep it, a screenshot of the screen you were on; and, if you leave the option on, device details (app version, iOS version, device model, screen, theme and time zone). Your email is shown to us with your feedback only if you tick "OK to email me about this".
We do not collect your device's location, contacts, advertising identifiers or browsing activity outside the app.
How we use it
Only to provide the app to you: to search job boards and the web for openings, assess them against your preferences, learn from your ratings, write tailored resumes and cover letters, keep to your spend caps, and respond to feedback. We don't use your information for advertising, and we don't build profiles about you for anyone else.
Who processes it
- Anthropic (Claude AI). Your resume, preferences, ratings and notes, writing sample, and the job postings being assessed are sent to Anthropic's API using your own API key, to assess roles and write documents for you. Anthropic processes this under its commercial terms and privacy policy (anthropic.com/legal). The app asks for your permission before this happens, and you can't add a key without agreeing.
- Supabase stores the app's data and runs its servers (Amazon Web Services, US West (Oregon)). Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and each person can reach only their own data.
- Apple and Google handle sign-in when you choose them. We receive your email address and an account identifier from them. If you delete your account, we also revoke the app's access to your Apple ID.
- Resend sends the app's account emails (confirmation and password reset codes) to your email address.
- Apple Push Notification service delivers notifications to your phone if you allow them (for example, when new roles are found). We store a device token so notifications reach your phone; signing out removes it.
- Job boards and company websites. The app reads public job postings from them. It does not send them your personal information.
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we don't share it with anyone else except where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
As long as you have an account. You can remove your writing sample, or replace your resume or API key, at any time. Account › Delete account deletes your account and everything in it: your results, settings, resume, stored key, feedback and screenshots. This can't be undone. Backups made by our hosting provider expire within their normal retention period.
Your choices and rights
You can see and change nearly everything the app holds about you inside the app, and delete it all with Delete account. For anything else, including a copy of your data, write to support@pursuingotherinterests.com. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA; we'll honor them.
Security
Your API key is kept in an encrypted vault. Access to data is limited to your own signed-in account, and email sign-in requires a second factor. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Children
POI is for adults looking for work. It isn't directed to children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
